Sport |
|
Jedburgh is not only prime brass band territory but also renowned for sporting achievement, especially Rugby.
Sport within the area is taken very seriously as healthy rivalry exists between the border towns.
The often sleepy town and lazy side roads expload with activity at certain times of the year when important sporting events are passionately staged.

Jedforest Pioneers |
|
The early days The JIB were one of first to adopt brass instruments with valves. Prior to Adolphe Sax perfecting the Valved brass instrument in 1842 earlier attempts were pretty much useless. These new inventions reached Jedburgh little more than a decade later in 1854 prior to which the people of Jedburgh had to make do with flutes, drums and bagpipes!
